As part of our new Chairman’s objective of introducing us to new venues and different activities this year, the meeting on 21st May 2014 saw Stafford 41 Club at a new venue, Spring Slade Lodge deep in the heart of Cannock Chase. It was a warm sunny evening so we were able to enjoy drinks in the garden before the meal.
Thirteen members enjoyed a two course meal, the braised beef was extremely tender.
This was a social meeting with no formal business agenda or minutes. However Chairman Peter made a couple of announcements. He said he had recently seen Mark Maguire. Mark, who is suffering from lung cancer, has had an operation and is now back to light work. He starts chemotherapy this week. Everyone sends their best wishes and hopes he will be able to join us again soon.
Peter also outlined the programme for the next few meetings. The June meeting will be held at Stafford College where we will have a meal cooked and served by the catering students. This will cost in the order of £16 and will involve a slightly earlier start. Details to follow by e-mail as normal. There will be a second meeting in June, on Thursday 26th. This will be the annual Tony Taylor Trophy challenge against Stafford Round Table. At present it is likely to be a cricket match at Milford. Please start training now so we can retain the trophy!
The July meeting will be a clay pigeon shoot at Edgepark between Milford and Wolsey Bridge. The cost for the shooting will be £25 plus a further £5-£10 for a buffet afterwards.More details to follow. In August we will be having a BBQ at Chase Golf Club.
The final toast was at 9.30 pm, after which members socialised together over a few drinks.
